A training centre was built in 1995 at Antsirabe with assistance from Soroptimist International of Europe, comprising two classrooms, a kitchen, office and two weaving rooms.

Training is provided for young girls in a full range of domestic skills: sewing and embroidery, cooking, catering and pastry making, washing and ironing, housekeeping and good manners, child welfare and family planning. Other components are first aid, French language, notion of management and economy, laws related to work and women’s rights and other relevant subjects. Practical training outside the centre is given in hotels, restaurants, private homes and companies. After graduation, the young women easily get jobs in such enterprises and receive better pay because of their high qualifications.
